Danuta Kornaus-Wejchert graduated with honours from the Faculty of Architecture of Warsaw Polytechnic. She also studied at the Faculty of Architecture of L'Êcole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris.
She is Fellow of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, a Member of the Association of Polish Architects and of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
During the sixties, she worked in the Design Office of the Health Department in Warsaw with Agence Auffret in Paris and with Robison Keefe & Devane in Dublin.
In 1974 Danuta co-founded with Andrzej Wejchert a practice : A & D Wejchert Architects in Dublin. Over the years she participated in international and national architectural competitions as follows: HQ for International Organisations and Conference Centre in Vienna, Universita Degli Studi Della Calabria - Italy, International Hotel in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Aquarium in Noumea, Nouvelle Caladonie and Singapore Science Park.
She received a third prize in The International Timber Architectural Awards in 1976 and a Commendation in the Irish Business/Abbey Homestead Housing Awards.
Some of these awards opened future commissions for the practice, such as a High Commendation in the Parish Church Architectural Competition commenced the practice involvement in Sacral Architecture and participation in the Tallaght Hospital Competition lead to long-term engagement with architecture for health.
Danuta's experience in healthcare extends from Protective Development Control Plans to minute details of the interior design. The most important projects under her direction include:

- Letterkenny General Hospital - Protective Development Control Plan
- James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Phase 1.
- Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda - Intensive Care, A & E Department & Site Feasibility Study
- Health Centres in Swords and Dublin.
