Patrick graduated in 1975 with an Honours B.Arch Degree from University College Dublin. He is a fellow of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects He joined A. & D. Wejchert & Partners in 1975, was made an Associate in 1984 and Partner in 1999.
His work in A. & D. Wejchert has mostly been related to educational and commercial buildings as well as a number of private houses. His main interests are sustainability and low energy design – he was Partner in charge of The Waterford Institute of Technology Library, which won the Minister for Environment’s Sustainability 2000 Award.
Among the projects for which he was responsible are; Beresford Court for Irish Life, Offices at Platin for Irish Cement, The O’Rahilly Building Phases I & II for University College Cork; The Library, Information Technology Building, Canteen and Nurse Education Buildings for Waterford Institute of Technology, The Robert Schuman and Kathleen Lonsdale Buildings for University of Limerick and Community Schools at Brookfield Tallaght, Youghal and Castleknock.
Patrick develops a close working relationship with all client bodies and their representatives. He believes that good communication throughout with the client, design and procurement teams are essential.
Patrick is a member of the RIAI Competence Task Force.
