The site is located north of Fanore Village. It is on elevated ground with views towards Cathair Dhuin Irghuis and Aran Isles.
It is proposed to adopt the form of the building reminding the Burren rock formations – from the entrance highlighted by the standing stone ring there will be a tunnel leading to the central volume of Entrance Hall and Coffee Area. All Educational and Exposition areas will open from this central part. Directly after obtaining the tickets visitors will be shown a short film on the Burren in the Audio-Visual Auditorium and that will be followed with the main exhibitions.
The main principle of the whole exposition is based on continuous climbing up an easy ramp between the exponates. The first two loops will describe history and archaeology of the Burren incorporating mammals, birds, butterflies, ecology and botany of the Burren. It will deal with the ice-ages and after. After reaching the first floor visitors will start climbing down the last series of ramps within the Marine Biology Exposition.
For tourists interested in further studies of the Burren there will be a small but well equipped library with seating area for reading.
