The new Church of Our Lady of the Most Holy Sacrament replaces a smaller chapel in the centre of Blessington. On an adjoining site a new primary school has been built, designed in harmony with this church. The church is based on a triangular plan, which gives all 500 seats a direct view of the altar, and there is an additional smaller day chapel for 32 people. The intersection of the roof with vertical planes of glazing admits natural light into the centre of the church. The design, with its white rendered walls, black slated roofs, and black joinery, responds to the unique character of Blessington village.
