The building is designed as four-three storey blocks arranged around a landscaped central atrium, which is the heart of the building and can accommodate exhibitions. The council chamber is a seperate element projecteing towards Prospect Hill.
Externally, local Galway limestone was used, internally stonework from the 1802 building was salvaged and used to creat one wall of the central atrium. The interioe of the building has been designed to create a naturally lit, bright and airy working environment.
