Two wings of an average depth of 13.5m form a ‘V’ chaped plan with the main entrance and lift core at its apex. These wings enclose a central multi-storey top glazed internal atrium. Light admitted through glazed roof illuminates the enclosed garden below and adjoining offices.
The interior is composed of high quality materials using stone, glass and stainless steel used in a contemporary way to achieve a modern, dignified (corporate) interior.
INNOVATION
Air Conditioning system uses ice bank thermal storage which is regenerated nightly, as required, by off-peak electricity. This provides the owners, Irish Life Plc, with reduced capacity refrigeration plant; reduced electrical maximum demand; reduced requirements on emergency generator system; standby cooling source in the event of chiller breakdown; over 50% of the annual cooling energy requirement for the building is provided at approximately half the normal cost by use of off-peak electrical tariff.
