The two storey extension to the existing Laboratory Department will improve workflow processes and thereby generate greater efficiencies. The current department is congested and requires expansion and be reorganisation. The existing Laboratory service and surrounding hospital departments including the Emergency Department, are to remain operational throughout the construction phase. The building is a simple two storey volume articulated with linear glazing to reflect language of adjacent ED. Robust materials are being detailed in complementary hues to the surrounding hospital.
