The new Modular Ward Block at St. Luke’s General Hospital Kilkenny is to be named ‘The Ormond Wing’. The new block is four storeys plus roof top plant rooms. Accommodation is arranged around a new courtyard. At ground floor accommodation includes offices and staff facilities. At upper levels there are three floors each with 24 single bedrooms all with private en-suites. Each ward will be named after one of the three rivers of the region served by St. Lukes: The Suir, The Nore and The Barrow. A modular construction method has been adopted allow for rapid construction in response to Covid-19 Health Crisis.
