The intention is to provide a modern fit for propose primary healthcare facility that will be a significant asset in regard to the delivery of Healthcare in the locality. Primary healthcare facilities enable joined up localised care and reduce the need of visits to the Regional Hospital.
The building type has to cater for a number of stakeholders and in order to balance their needs the proposed layout of the building is a result of significant consultations with the users. The Centre at Grange will be the Hub in a Hub and Spoke model. We are also designing a smaller centre is to be provided at Drumcliff as part of this model.
In addition to the Primary Care facilities have an Ambulance Outreach base, this is to allow the deployment of ambulances at Grange in order to provide a more rapid response times around the region.
The site is prominent on the edge of the town and highly visible from an elevated location when entering Grange. A sculptural roof form will distinguish the building from the neighbouring buildings creating a landmark on the approach to the village. The roof form takes its Inspiration from the sculptural form of the Dartry Mountains. Three slipped volumes give a dynamic roof form and break up the massing of the building. A palette of masonry, render and aluminium panels is proposed. Accommodation is organised around an opened sided courtyard sheltering a pleasant amenity space .The building is orientated on site in such a way as to capture the southern light in the courtyard and the rooms.
