The school for 1,000 pupils is designed as a two-storey building to limit travel distances and is arranged as four wings radiating from the central, two-storey general purpose area. Entrance to the school is directly into this double height volume which is the focal point of the school both architecturally and functionally.
The three teaching wings accommodate deep practical spaces on the ground floor and shallower classroom type spaces on the upper floor to facilitate the use of rooflighting and ventilation. This has resulted in a bright and airy building which is pleasant to be in and has a good learning/educational atmosphere.
